‘Within 72 hours’: Reporter drops Moises Caicedo claim as FSG in talks with agents

According to an update from Dharmesh Sheth, the destiny of rumoured Liverpool transfer target Moises Caicedo could be decided in the next three to four days.

Earlier today, it was alleged that the Reds had made contact with Brighton about the 21-year-old, with some reports claiming that an offer had already been put (although some sources suggest it hasn’t yet).

Chelsea have already made many attempts to sign the midfielder (The Guardian), and it appears that there may be interest from outside the Premier League as well, with the situation potentially coming to a close shortly.

Sheth said on social media: “THREE clubs are interested in signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.” Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are all interested in a trade. A solution, in one form or another, might be reached as soon as this weekend. As things stand, Brighton will not budge from £100 million.”

At first appearance, the addition of Bayern to the mix may appear to represent a significant challenge to Liverpool, with the Munich giants claiming Bundesliga supremacy on an annual basis since 2013 and winning the Champions League thrice during that time.

However, with rumors that they have signed a £100 million deal for Harry Kane (Sky Sports) and having previously spent €50 million (£43.2 million) on Kim Min-jae (Transfermarkt), they may not have the money to spend another nine-figure sum on Caicedo.

Of course, FSG’s notoriously thrifty tendency makes it tough to imagine Liverpool going big on the Ecuadorian, although they will occasionally authorize a big-money signing, such as Virgil van Dijk (£75m) or Darwin Nunez (original £64m, potentially £85m).

Sheth’s remark that a resolution to the controversy surrounding the Brighton midfielder could come ‘this weekend’ is also encouraging, if true.

If we sign Caicedo, we will have secured a significant transfer coup at the start of the new season. If we don’t, there’s still time to shift our focus to other targets over the rest of August.

We’re approaching the point when things can happen very quickly, so there could be some major developments on the 21-year-old between now and Sunday night.
