In an interview with TV2 Sport, Hojlund shared a piece of paper he had written on 10 years ago. The standout content was:
“My goal is to play for the Danish national team and Manchester United.”
Now, Hojlund’s childhood dream has become a reality. He made his first appearance for the Danish national team in September last year. Remarkably, Hojlund marked this debut by scoring a hat-trick as his team defeated Finland 3-1 in the EURO 2024 qualifiers. Hojlund also had his debut at Old Trafford before the match against RC Lens. He received a warm welcome from the Red Devils’ fans. However, the Danish player couldn’t play due to an injury.
The injury is not too serious. It is a common issue for young players under the age of 20 with high-intensity physical activity. Although not severe, the back injury may cause Hojlund to miss the early stages of the season.
The British press reported that the Danish star will need about six weeks to fully recover.
Hojlund joined Manchester United from Atalanta for a transfer fee of 72 million euros, excluding add-ons. He is expected to strengthen the Red Devils’ attacking power.
Hojlund’s injury leaves HLV Ten Hag with limited options for the forward line in the early stages of the season. Martial has also just recovered from a groin injury and has not reached his peak physical condition to play.
The team at Old Trafford will start the new season with a match against Wolves.
