Liverpool мissing the clear with Caicedo as Man Unitҽd transfҽr ‘Һijack’ would be perfect

Liverpool has been linked with a transfer for Moisés Caicedo this summer, but a “hijack” by Manchester United could be an even better option.

Liverpool continue to be linked with a multitude of players ahead of the summer transfer window, with Jürgen Klopp prioritizing the midfield position. The Liverpool manager is eager to recruit Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham in the coming months, but he would not be the only addition at Anfield.

Naby Keta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are almost expected to leave when their contracts expire, necessitating the need for at least one additional midfielder, which explains why fresh ruмors have emerged around Moisés Caicedo. Klopp was ruмored to be interested in signing the Ecuadorian international during the winter, but after an offer failed to materialize, ruмors diҽd down.

Now that the summer transfer window is approaching, the Daily Mail reports that Liverpool is once again interested in Caicedo. A transfer for the South American seems logical, but the same could be said for one of his Brighton & Hove Albion teammates.

The Ecuadorian and Alexis Mac Allister have forged a combination at the Amex Stadium this season, giving the Seagulls a solid platform from which to dominate games. They first blossomed under Graham Potter before the Brit left for Chelsea; Roberto De Zerbi is now working to enhance them even further.

Caicedo is only 21 years old, hence he is regarded as a promising young player. He is regarded as the midfield ball-winner for Brighton, as he appears to be a natural when it comes to regaining possession for his teammates, practically acting like a firefighter.

Caicedo is proficient with the ball at his feet in addition to his ability to sweep up on the defensive side of the play. Klopp could be interested in his services since he is diligent, energetic, and intense, especially given Liverpool’s continuous troubles without the ball.

Mac Allister is regarded as the more creative and original member of the team, and with good cause. The Argentina international, who won the World Cup just four months ago, has been utilized as a number 10 alongside Caicedo in deeper areas this season. This has contributed to Manchester United’s ‘internal discussions’ over a transfer, according to Caught Offside.

Eight times in the Premier League, he has scored, and he has also registered an assist. As a technically proficient and courteous presence, Mac Allister gives De Zerbi’s players with a measure of control and reassurance when in possession.

On the surface, the 24-year-old almost matches the pattern of the conventional luxury player, but a deeper examination of his statistics suggests he is far from that. This season, Mac Allister has averaged 3,3 tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes, putting him ahead of players such as Rodri, James Ward-Prowse, Mateo Kovai, and Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg, to mention a few.

He doesn’t average quite as much as Caicedo’s 4.5 per 90, but he’s more versatile than many fans would anticipate. In reality, Mac Allister resembles Gini Wijnaldum, who departed Liverpool in 2021, or lkay Gündoan, with whom Jurgen Klopp worked during his stint as Borussia Dortmund manager around a decade ago.

Finally, Caicedo is a sensible target, but his teammate Mac Allister is equally so. The Reds could realistically enhance the pitch by pursuing either player. Klopp could practically toss a coin between the two impressive Brighton players, but the club’s recruitment methods will be much more careful.

Caicedo initially attempted to force a January transfer to Arsenal, but he has now signed a new long-term contract. Mac Allister also signed a new contract not so long ago, so neither transfer would be simple for Liverpool to complete — especially in the face of prospective opposition from Manchester United — but Brighton has always been willing to sell players for the right price.

Liverpool must successfully navigate the summer transfer market in order to emerge from its most difficult season in years.
