EXCL: Man Utd now pushing to complete deal of Sofyan Amrabat after Fred agreement

Manchester United are said to be stepping up their chase of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, with Fred on the verge of signing Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old had a good international season in 2022-23, helping Morocco reach the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar before falling to France.

Amrabat also led his club side to the Europa Conference League final in Prague, but the Serie A outfit was unable to hoist the European trophy after succumbing to West Ham United in the showpiece event.

The former Hellas Verona man appeared in 29 Serie A matches for Fiorentina last season, starting 24 of them, and his efforts may have been enough to gain an appealing move to the Premier League.

Manchester United are ready to initiate talks with Fiorentina over the transfer of Amrabat, according to talkSPORT, amid reports that fellow midfielder Fred is on his way out of Old Trafford.

The Brazil international is said to be on a wishlist of players the Red Devils hope to offload this summer as Erik ten Hag seeks to shape his group into title contenders.

According to the source, Fred is on the verge of joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce, with Ismail Kartal’s men reportedly poised to spend £13 million for the 30-year-old.

Fred has played over 200 times for the Red Devils since signing from Shakhtar Donetsk for £50 million in the summer of 2018, scoring 14 goals in that time.

Ten Hag is thought to be seeking to rebuild the United engine room around the influential Casemiro, having already signed England star Mason Mount from Chelsea for an initial sum of £55 million.

Manchester United have also focused on improving their goalkeeping and attacking departments this summer, bringing in Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund from Inter Milan and Atalanta BC, respectively.

Man United are aiming to offload more players before the transfer season closes, with Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire both linked with transfers to West Ham United.

Former United boss David Moyes is said to be a major fan of McTominay and Maguire, with the East Londoners apparently planning a double swoop for the two.

Donny van de Beek is another player who could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer, having failed to make an impact since joining from Ajax in September 2020.

Man United kick off their Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Monday night, when Mount and Onana might make their competitive debuts.
