Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Old Trafford is a dream come true, as evidenced by a note he wrote when he was just 10 years old.
Hojlund, 20, signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford last week after United paid £72 million for the Atalanta forward, with a further 12-month option.
Hojlund said on the club website: “It is no secret that I have been a fan of this wonderful club since I was a small boy and I dreamed of going out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player. I was introduced to the United supporters before of the club’s friendly match against Lens on Saturday.
“I am really delighted about the chance to make that goal come true, and I’m keen to repay the club for their confidence in me.
Even though my career is still in its infancy, I am confident that I am prepared to advance and join this team of elite athletes.
A note from Hojlund’s youth shows that he supported the United team when he was younger.
Hojlund, according to Danish TV station TV2 SPORT, wrote about his desire to play for United when he was just 10 years old. My objective is to play for Manchester United and the Danish national team, he declared.
Although the striker’s ambition of joining the Premier League’s biggest club has come true, he must wait before donning a United jersey for the first time.
The striker needed a few weeks to recover from a minor back ailment when he was signed by the club.
Hojlund is on a customized training regimen, and his coaches are hoping he will be ready for the trip to the Emirates in less than a month.
Ten Hag spoke on the subject, saying: “It is difficult to predict how that process will play out, but I believe he is progressing well at the present; after that, we will have to wait and see day by day. The next step is to follow up.
Hojlund is a real frontman, Ten Hag stated of him during the Lens game. Very muscular presence, excellent presser, and very direct to the point. Along with (Marcus) Rashford, I believe we needed that additional direct and goal-scoring guy to balance out this squad. He only has one thought: he wants to score goals.
“I believe he has a ton of potential. And since the team was looking for someone of his caliber, we will help him. It is now up to him to do it first. They will assist him and incorporate him into the locker room and the field.
