‘I don’t like’: Jurgen Klopp admits he is unhappy with what Liverpool has done recently

Jurgen Klopp has stated that he is dissatisfied with Liverpool’s spending in the summer market.

Klopp has previously been a vociferous opponent of the rising wages in top-level football. But, with Liverpool on the verge of paying £111 million for Moises Caicedo, the German risks doing exactly what he raged against.

Jurgen was asked about this during today’s pre-Chelsea press conference. After confirming a deal with Brighton for Caicedo, Klopp went on to explain that he realized he’d been wrong regarding transfer fees, but he still didn’t like it.

“Everything was different. Is it appealing to me? No. But did I realize I was mistaken? Yes, absolutely, sure,” responded the Reds’ manager. “That’s how it goes. It’s not ideal, but it’s not going to happen again. Saudi Arabia will undoubtedly not assist in this regard. That is not to blame anyone, but it will not help. It’s yet another lucrative market.

“In the end, we as a club just have to try to make sure that we get the best possible team together with our resources, the money we have.” You can bet we go to great lengths to put together the best team or squad for us.

“We’re not in a dream world, so we can’t just point to players and bring them in; it takes a lot of work to do these kinds of things.” It occurs that one door shuts and the other opens.

“However, if people want to throw my quotes from five or six years ago, that’s fine.” That’s what I thought that day, and I now realize I was incorrect, which is easy to confess.”

Klopp responds to market conditions

Jurgen is correct in every way. He was correct when he criticized Manchester United’s spending on Paul Pogba, and he is correct today.

Unfortunately, Liverpool can no longer afford not to pay these types of amounts for players. Football has progressed since seven years ago.

The kind of money required to bring Pogba from Juventus to United is becoming commonplace.

Liverpool can either refuse to accept it and continue to lose players like Romeo Lavia, or they can accept it and sign great talent like Caicedo.

Of course, we don’t expect the Reds to start paying such high salaries on a regular basis. In reality, Liverpool supporters may have to tighten their belts for a while.

But every now and again, if the demands of the squad demand it, it’s worthwhile to go the additional mile and bring in the appropriate player.

This transaction has not yet been completed, and it appears that Chelsea may still have a say. However, once Caicedo is a Liverpool player and doing his thing in midfield, the cost will seem insignificant.
