Chelsea got a big money push right before the start of the Premier League 2023/24, when there was a new shirt sponsor with a huge contract of up to 400 million euros.
On July 10, Chelsea released the new shirt for the 2023/24 season. Surprisingly, this shirt has the sponsor blank on the chest. Therefore, the London team played without a sponsor on the front of the shirt in the pre-season.
The irony stems from Chelsea’s £40m-a-year sponsorship deal with telecommunications company Three that ended at the end of last season.
Chelsea then struggled to find sponsors, through negotiations with a number of partners such as Paramount Plus – a video-on-demand streaming service owned by Paramount Global, online casino Stake, Allianz corporation or even with an adult content site. However, due to both subjective and objective reasons, the negotiations fell into a deadlock and broke down.
In the urgent context when the Premier League season 2023/24 is approaching, Chelsea has finally let go of the anxiety that has been clinging all the time. According to the Daily Mail, after a period of negotiation, the Stamford Bridge team has finally reached an agreement with the sports technology company Infinite Athlete in the US. According to the introduction on the official website, Infinite Athlete’s goal is to create a single technology platform across all major sports, based on which sports technology innovation and communication products can be built. This platform will combine and connect sports data from all sources, which will create limitless possibilities.
Under the contract between Infinite Athlete and Chelsea, the American technology brand became the shirt sponsor for the London club for 7 years. At the same time, the total contract value is up to 400 million euros. As such, the team currently led by Mauricio Pochettino can launch the kit with the new sponsor’s name on the opening day of the 2023/24 Premier League against Liverpool this weekend. At the same time, it will put an end to the false rumors surrounding Chelsea entering the new season without a shirt sponsor.
More than anyone else, Chelsea chief executive Chris Jurasek was more than pleased. Because Chelsea’s transfer budget will be “pumped” significantly from the million-dollar deal mentioned above. Through this, teacher Pochettino added a lot of money when he brought back the goals to pursue in this year’s summer market.
