After helping Al Nassr win the Arab Club Champions Club championship, Cristiano Ronaldo was disappointed that he did not win Player of the Tournament.
Al Nassr defeated Al Hilal 2-1 in the Arab Club Champions Club final on Saturday at the King Fahd Stadium, giving Cristiano Ronaldo his first trophy with the team. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ronaldo transferred to Al Nassr, although he was unable to help them win the league. Ronaldo scored six goals to finish as the leading scorer for Al Nassr, which placed second in the Saudi Pro League. The Portuguese star also scored twice in the championship.
Al Hilal scored the game’s first goal in the 51st minute thanks to a goal from Michael. Ronaldo, meanwhile, scored the game’s winning goal in overtime after tying the score in the 74th minute. With the dismissals of Nawaf Boushal and Abdullah Al-Amri, Al Nassr was also reduced to nine men.
Despite winning his first championship with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo was disappointed that Sergej Milinkovic-Savic of Al Hilal was handed the best player award. Since then, a video of the former Manchester United star, who appeared irritated and was objecting to the choice, has gone viral.
Ronaldo stated his happiness after winning the trophy despite being dissatisfied with the choice. He tweeted “Extremely proud to helped the team win this important trophy for the 1st time! Thank you to everyone in the club that was involved in this great achievement and to my family and friends for always being by my side! Fantastic support by our fans! This also belongs to you!”
Ronaldo also left the field in tears during extra time of the game after being hauled off due to an injury and had to be driven away on a golf cart. After the game, Al Nassr head coach Luis Castro also discussed Ronaldo’s injuries, he said: “Cristiano Ronaldo will be back as soon as possible from his injury.”
