Chelsea have launched rookie Moises Caicedo, recruited from Brighton for a record price of English football up to 115 million pounds. The midfielder has signed an eight-year contract with the option to extend for another season.
The Blues have officially revealed the deal by posting a short video of the Chelsea midfielder hugging his mother while sitting in the trunk of a car. Chelsea beat Liverpool in the battle for Caicedo when spending £115 million , breaking the English football transfer record.
After officially signing and making his debut, Caicedo has expressed his admiration for Chelsea legends who possess similar qualities to his own.
He named two heroes, Claude Makele and N’Golo Kante, whom he aspired to emulate as he began his journey with the Blues.
“Makelele and Kante are an inspiration to me. They are very humble on the pitch. I think I can say that we have the same qualities, but of course they are better. I will give everything for him. this club the same way they did,” Caicedo said in his first official interview since joining Chelsea.
“When I was a kid I supported Chelsea and used to watch the team’s games. Now it’s great to be here. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can’t wait to be here. to start, to give my best, and to write my own story,” he added.
Caicedo has been a Chelsea fan since he was a child and was even given a Kante jersey for his 18th birthday. He will make his Blues debut in the London derby against West Ham on August 20.
