After ‘liking’ an Instagram post about Kylian Mbappe, Neymar seems to have made his thoughts about their connection apparent. Mbappe plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Sky News, the Brazilian forward has reached an agreement to sign a two-year contract with Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal.
Neymar, who now holds the record for the highest transfer fee after joining PSG for £222 million in 2017, is getting ready to start the next phase of his career as he gets a checkup at Al Hilal.
The transfer will conclude Neymar’s six-year stay at PSG, where he failed to win the Ballon d’Or or the Champions League championship he had hoped for when he first arrived at Parc des Princes.
In recent seasons, injuries have severely limited his playing time; last season, he only made 20 Ligue 1 games.
When healthy, the 31-year-old’s talent is still very much evident, as evidenced by the 24 goals he was directly involved in throughout those appearances.
Now that Mbappe has resumed first-team training at PSG, he is likely to go on.
Neymar “likes” a Mbappe-related Instagram post.
With his current contract set to expire next summer, Mbappe had been excluded from first-team training with Les Parisiens due to the continuous controversy surrounding his future.
However, it was revealed that Mbappe has been ‘reintegrated’ back into the team following PSG’s 0-0 draw with Lorient on Saturday.
A PSG statement read: “Following very constructive and positive talks between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe before the PSG-Lorient match, the player has been reintegrated into first-team training this [Sunday] morning.”
Prior to the announcement of Neymar’s transfer to Al Hilal, the Instagram account @fiqueiputomesmo posted a report from the French publication L’Equipe that stated Mbappe had informed PSG last summer that there was ‘no more room’ for him and Neymar in the team.
Furthermore, the report alleges: “Coincidentally, on the day Neymar was practically announced at Al-Hilal, Mbappe returned to training super happy.”
Neymar’s official Instagram account then “liked” the post; the action was still active as of the time of this writing.
After an international friendly against Brazil in September, Neymar was questioned by the media about his friendship with Mbappe; nevertheless, he chose not to respond.
Mbappe refuted allegations that he had berated Neymar in an interview with the French network Canal+ in February.
Before pursuing Neymar, Al Hilal made a record-breaking £259 million offer for the France forward. However, sources told ESPN that when club executives arrived in Paris to discuss a separate deal, Mbappe declined the opportunity to talk with them directly.
