PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare is the latest name to be linked with a move to Liverpool
Liverpool’s interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare has reportedly been confirmed by Kiki Musampa, the brother of Sangare’s agent. According to Musampa, Liverpool is among three elite European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, who are chasing the French-Ivorian midfielder.
Nottingham Forest had previously shown interest in the 25-year-old player but failed to meet the financial demands set by PSV Eindhoven. Sangare is said to have a release clause of €37.5 million (£32 million) in his contract.
Liverpool’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements has been evident, with their bids for players like Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. The Reds’ offer of around £110 million for Caicedo was accepted by Brighton & Hove Albion, despite Chelsea’s previous interest in the player. It is noted that the competition between Liverpool and Chelsea for midfield acquisitions is ongoing.
While Sangare has been linked with moves to other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Musampa’s comments suggest that Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and PSG are currently in the running for his signature.
Liverpool are interested in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, according to Kiki Musampa.
The 46-year-old, brother of Sangare’s agent, has claimed that the Reds are among three elite European clubs chasing the French-Ivorian. Nottingham Forest were previously interested in the 25-year-old but failed to meet the financial demands of the Eredivisie side.
Liverpool’s pursuit of reinforcements in the middle has been no secret. The Reds have had three bids for Romeo Lavia rejected from Southampton before their offer of around £110m was accepted by Brighton & Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea had been long-standing suitors for Caicedo before Jurgen Klopp’s side swooped in. However, the Londoners have since reportedly swooped in for both midfield targets as the battle for acquisitions between the two sides continues.
It has been claimed that Sangare has a €37.5m (£32m) release clause in his contract and was subject to an approach from Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
Steve Cooper’s side failed to meet the 25-year-old’s valuation but it has been suggested that Sangare still remains a top target for the City Ground club.
This weekend, Musampa has named Liverpool among European juggernauts Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the running to sign Sangare. The former footballer is the brother of Sangare’s agent and was featuring on ESPN when he made the admission.
He said: “There are big clubs that are interested, such as Bayern Munich. Ibrahim is also on the list at Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but he is not yet a priority there. Nottingham Forest had already made an offer, but that was not enough.”
