Lew Mount launches social media rant after criticism of Mason Mount vs Wolves

Mason Mount’s brother has reacted to talkSPORT’s social media post criticizing the Manchester United midfielder’s performance against Wolves.

Mount made his competitive debut for United in Monday’s 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag’s team were far from their best, but Raphael Varane’s second-half header secured all three points.

On the night, United’s midfield was chastised as a powerful Wolves side found unlimited space in the middle of the park. The Reds were also criticized for their lack of talent as a club moving forward, with Mount at the helm.

In the midst of the criticism, talkSPORT announced on their social media channels that the Reds midfielder had no goals, assists, or opportunities created among a variety of other numbers from Monday night’s encounter. Mount’s brother Lewis shared the numbers on his Instagram story, slamming the media outlet.

“I’ve tried to let this go all day, but honestly, shame on you @talksport,” he wrote. These gamers, no, these PEOPLE, are already subjected to enough abuse without you adding gasoline to the flames.

“A reminder that he had a very successful 18-year football career and is a wonderful, kind, human being, which is more than I can say for some of your “reporters.”

Mount has struggled to make an impact since joining from Chelsea for £55 million last month. The 24-year-old has been active in the press but hasn’t been able to offer much quality when in possession.

His troubles on Monday night, however, were part of a larger issue in the midfield, with former Reds captain Gary Neville underlining a lack of balance.

“In pre-season, we [Neville and Carragher] discussed how Mount and Fernandes were playing so high up in those No.10 positions that Casemiro was left all on his own,” he remarked. “We can’t let that happen.”

“No team can leave a defensive midfielder alone, especially one who isn’t as mobile as Casemiro but reads the game well.” “I believe Ten Hag will be forced to bring in someone else to play alongside Casemiro, someone who can hold the ball well.”
