After making an impression in his Saudi Pro League debut, Fabinho was given a Rolex watch, which he promptly dropped.
The 29-year-old Brazilian international, who signed Al-Ittihad from Liverpool for £40 million last month, paired N’Golo Kante in midfield as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side cruised to a 3-0 victory over Al-Raed.
Goals by Abderrazak Hamdallah and Igor Coronado [2] clinched the victory in Buraidah, and the former Monaco midfielder was on his way out when he was stopped by a fan.
The supporter then placed a Rolex watch on Fabinho’s wrist, much to his astonishment.
However, as seen in the video below, provided by Twitter user @alaa_saeed88, that pricey watch fell to the ground as he walked away after it had not been properly secured.
After the game, Fabinho told Saudi broadcaster SSC Channel, “We were stronger in the first half and managed to control the tempo of the game despite the scorching weather.”
“While we didn’t create many chances in the first half, we were clearly dominant in the second half, scoring three goals.” We could have scored more goals, but what was most important was our control and rhythm throughout the game.”
The Brazilian also discussed how Al-Ittihad won the match. “We capitalized on Al-Raed’s defensive disorganization, positioned ourselves effectively, and witnessed a stronger overall performance,” he continued.
“This is my first game with the team, and there will be many more to come.”
“I was among the top players in my positions for five years at Liverpool,” Fabinho stated. However, there is opportunity for improvement. I’m still a young player, but I want to grow and contribute significantly to the team’s success.”
Former Al-Hilal forward Odion Ighalo gave us a peek into how the Saudi Pro League squad travels to games earlier this year when he videotaped his flight on the opulent Boeing 747-400 plane.
The 34-year-old, who has been playing in the Middle East for two years, recorded the 90-second tour of Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s private Boeing 747-400.
According to Aeroaffaires, the plane is valued at $220 million.
