Marcus Rashford has teamed up with the British luxury brand in a bid to end child hunger in the UK this winter

Few individuals have had a more pronouncedly good influence on British culture in the dreadful year that has been 2023 than Manchester United player Marcus Rashford, 26.

Rashford, a strong opponent of childhood hunger, recently took his case to the highest office (again) and criticized the government for refusing to give the country’s most vulnerable children free school meals over the half-term break.

In an effort to further promote his message of optimism, the inspirational activist has now partnered with British fashion house Burberry. He was named today as the brand’s winter ambassador. In keeping with their new deal, Burberry has also revealed a new line of humanitarian endeavors.

Burberry also intends to collaborate with other charitable endeavors in London and Manchester in addition to its ongoing support of FareShare (a charity that aims to provide approximately 200,000 meals to the poorest British children, which will be distributed across 11,000 charities and community groups throughout the UK).

The company, which is best renowned for its world-class trench coats, will collaborate with London Youth to award scholarships to 15 youth centers in the most underserved areas of the city.

Burberry is assisting Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Center and Norbrook Youth Club in Manchester, two youth organizations that Rashford visited as a child while growing up in the northern metropolis.

Additionally, Burberry is working with the International Youth Foundation to support the Global Youth Resiliency Fund, an Asian-focused initiative that aims to assist regional business owners in addressing problems like food security. In New York, the company is also joining the Wide Rainbow initiative, which offers arts education to kids living in the city’s most underprivileged boroughs.

Rashford stated in an open letter published by Burberry: “One day you will have a lot of things you never dreamed of owning, but never forget that stability and consistency are two of the most valuable things you will ever experience.” “All of the greatest gifts you receive in life—your friendships, your discipline, your respect, and your compassion for others—will prove to be centered in the youth centers you visit today on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.”
