Liverpool were in danger of losing their fourth star to clubs in Saudi Arabia when Al-Nassr expressed interest in Alisson Becker.
This summer saw European teams being ‘drained’ of stars as Saudi Arabia emerged as an attractive destination. One of the teams most affected is Liverpool. The Kop in turn saw Roberto Firmino join Al-Ahli as a free agent while the two latest faces to land in the Saudi Pro League are Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. Another former Liverpool star, Sadio Mane, has just joined Al-Nassr after leaving Bayern Munich.
According to the Mirror, Ronaldo’s club is interested in recruiting Alisson Becker. The current goalkeeper Nawaf Alaqidi does not meet the professional needs. He was especially disappointed in the recent loss to Al-Ettifaq. As for the Liverpool keeper, he is also said to consider moving to the Middle East to play with his former teammates.
If he joins Al-Nassr, Alisson will meet Sadio Mane again and work with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Alex Telles, and Marcelo Brozovic. However, the departure of the Brazilian goalkeeper also means that The Kop has to buy more people. Because besides Alisson, in their wooden frame now only Caoimhin Kelleher remained.
Alisson has become a mainstay for the port city side with 232 appearances since joining Liverpool for £70m in 2018. He was one of the few players to play consistently last season. The stage where coach Jurgen Klopp’s teachers and students could only finish 5th overall.
