For the second time in the summer of 2023, midfielder Hakim Ziyech again failed to leave Chelsea due to not passing Galatasaray’s medical examination.
Galatasaray is actively upgrading the squad in the summer of 2023. Currently, the Turkish team already owns many big stars like Mauro Icardi, Wilfried Zaha, Lucas Torreira, Dries Mertens or Muslera, but still has no intention of stopping. According to the British press, Galatasaray has reached an agreement to recruit Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea.
The Blues immediately nodded and created conditions for Ziyech to fly to Türkiye for medical examination. However, the Morocco international did not pass Galatasaray’s health check. The deal thus fell through and Ziyech had to return to Stamford Bridge.
This is the second time this summer that Ziyech’s transfer has failed because he did not pass a medical examination. Previously, Chelsea had reached an agreement to sell Ziyech to Al-Nassr for 17 million pounds, but the 30-year-old star did not complete the fitness test in Saudi Arabia, so it was returned.
If counted in 2023, this is the third time Ziyech has missed the opportunity to leave Chelsea. In the winter transfer window of 2023, the former Ajax star reached an agreement to join PSG after a brilliant shine in Morocco’s shirt at the 2022 World Cup. But then this deal also fell apart at the last minute because the Blues sent it wrong. The related documents prevented the Ligue 1 team from registering players before the transfer window closed.
Ziyech’s current situation at Chelsea is quite stalemate. He was excluded from the plan by new coach Pochettino and he himself wanted to leave to play regularly, but two medical tests failed. Now, Chelsea will have to wait and see if any other partners want to buy Ziyech. Besides, Chelsea can spend a sum of money to release the contract with Ziyech.
