Ryan Gravenberch is ‘insisting’ that Bayern Munich sell him, despite Liverpool’s serious interest.
Throughout the summer transfer season, the Reds have been widely linked with a move for Gravenberch. However, because Bayern is apparently unwilling to sanction a sale, nothing has progressed thus far.
However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, this could change. Romano remarked on his YouTube channel yesterday that, while the German champions are holding firm for the time being, Gravenberch is pressing hard for a promotion to the Premier League.
“The big problem with Gravenberch is Bayern,” the journalist explained. “They don’t want to sell Gravenberch; they want to keep him.” Gravenberch, on the other hand, has insisted on considering several Premier League options in the last two or three days.
“Liverpool called to inquire about the situation, just like they did with [Sofyan] Amrabat, but they never submitted a bid.”
“So we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to enter the race with an official proposal or not.” However, nothing has progressed as of yet.
“Bayern is the major issue because they refuse to sell the player.” However, if Bayern gives the go-ahead in the last days of the window, keep an eye on Liverpool, particularly Manchester United.”
Gravenberch is attempting to make a move
As things stand, we’d be astonished if Liverpool or Manchester United finish up with Gravenberch this summer.
Since before the end of last season, the player appears to have been lobbying for a trade. But, thus far, Bayern has refused to budge.
We don’t understand why they would change their approach now, with the window closing in less than two weeks.
Until now, the Netherlands international was thought to be worth roughly £43 million [Tuttomercatoweb]. A significant improvement on that might entice the Munich side.
Liverpool, on the other hand, has been adamant in their refusal to overpay this summer. That fee already appears to be on the high side for a player who didn’t have the best of campaigns the previous time around. It seemed improbable that they would desire to go any higher.
United is more likely to do so, but they have a fairly full roster right now. There doesn’t appear to be room for Gravenberch unless they can move a couple on.
So, perhaps this is one to ‘keep an eye on,’ as Romano suggests. With so many other cards in play, we don’t expect much movement, no matter how hard the 21-year-old insists.
