Man Utd want to recruit 2018 World Cup winner in case of selling Harry Maguire

Man Utd has struck a chord with Bayern Munich’s £30 million French defender, Benjamin Pavard, in the context of the “Red Devils” wanting to strengthen the defense.

Man Utd have agreed a price of £ 30 million for Harry Maguire to West Ham this summer. Currently, the English midfielder is negotiating personal terms with The Hammer to join the Olympic stadium team in the next few days.

According to the Dailymail, after selling Harry Maguire, Man Utd has also targeted a number of players to strengthen the defense, and Benjamin Pavard is considered the number one target of the “Red Devils” at the moment.

The current 2018 World Cup winner has only one year left on his contract with Bayern Munich and has no intention of extending his contract with the Allianz Arena team.

The French defender is also no longer a priority option under coach Thomas Tuchel, especially in the context of Bayern Munich with the addition of rookie Kim Min Jae from Napoli in defense.

Pavard joined Bayern Munich in January 2019 from Stuttgart for £30 million. During 4 seasons, he played 162 matches in all competitions for “Gray Lobster”.

The 27-year-old defender also played 49 matches for the French team and was the key to helping the “Goloa Rooster” win the 2018 World Cup.

In addition to Pavard, Man Utd has a number of other options such as Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba or Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

Man Utd will have their Premier League debut when they welcome Wolves at Old Trafford on August 15.
