The transfer window is less than two weeks away from closing, and the chances of finding new signings are dwindling. However, there is never a shortage of last-minute signings, and it appears that our Liverpool will be one of the big players during the transfer window’s close, as Jürgen Klopp still has a couple of targets in mind.
Although it has been stated since the end of last season that Liverpool will prioritize the recruitment of new midfielders, this does not mean that there are not other positions that are looking to strengthen. It appears that Klopp and the board have agreed to look for a new left-sided defender to strengthen that area of the pitch, and it appears that the German tactician already has his candidate.
Piero Hincapie is a 21-year-old Ecuadorian left-sided central defender who now plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and has a contract with the club until 2027. Hincapie, another of Ecuador’s greats, has pleased many during his time at Leverkusen, which is why he has apparently piqued Klopp’s interest. The Reds’ interest in Hincapie is not only genuine, but also appears to be a highly appealing alternative for the Merseyside club, who are already in preliminary conversations to inquire about his possible transfer.
How much would they have to pay to bring Hincapie on board?
Following the failure to buy Moises Caicedo, it was evident that Liverpool’s board has money, so the €45 million that Bayer Leverkusen would seek for to sell Piero Hincapie, according to Ecuadorian media Teradeportes, should not be a huge issue, given that Wataru Endo only cost 18 million.
