The Cowboys’ worst-case scenario in their preseason game against the Seahawks on Saturday was an injury to rookie third-round draft pick DeMarvion Overshown.
When he plays linebacker in the large nickel defense, the former Texas linebacker has already secured jobs as a special teams guru, the No. 1 linebacker, and a turn-around safety in place of Jayron Kearse. After suffering a knee injury on the second drive of the game against the Seahawks, the Cowboys are crossing their fingers for Overshown’s health and availability.
Overshown was doing Overshown things, leading the team with three tackles on the opening two drives. However, on the final tackle, he used his speed to get to the sideline, restricting running back Zach Charbonnet to a 1-yard gain after a catch.
Overshown didn’t get up right away. He walked off the field on his own after being examined by the trainers. He was subsequently escorted to the locker room for more testing.
