Alisson and Jordan Henderson, both teammates with Liverpool, got into an altercation at Stamford Bridge during the second half.
Alisson, the goalkeeper for Liverpool, has commented on his heated exchange with Jordan Henderson following the goalless draw with Chelsea, saying it is all “water under the bridge.”
At Stamford Bridge, Alisson and Henderson got into a ꜰɪɢʜᴛ in the second half. The pair yelled and spat in each other’s faces before the Reds captain shoved the goalkeeper with his shoulder as he passed.
They were seen talking after the game and smiling while walking arm in arm to the away dressing room, indicating that the issue was left on the field. Alisson has since moved to reaffirm this, saying the Liverpool players and supporters are equally unhappy by recent losses.
Alisson told ESPN Brazil: “Me and Henderson, we are two people who ꜰɪɢʜᴛ, who give our lives for their team. And on the field, there is no way to ask ‘please?’
“So sometimes it seems that the mood is high, but it’s two people trying to fix it, do things in the best way for the team and try to help. Of course, it’s been difficult, it’s been a great challenge [this season].
“We are human beings and we feel as much as anyone else. We get frustrated when something ɴᴇɢᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ happens. We rejoice when we are well. But football, the difference is that we can’t spend a long time lamenting because that’s the good side of football.
“When things are going badly, two, three days after a match that the team doesn’t play well, there’s already an opportunity that can show again. So that’s our challenge this season. Each game will show our ʀᴇᴀʟ quality and play together as a team.”
Liverpool suffered their third straight loss at the hands of Manchester City during the weekend, losing 4-1, but their losing streak came to an end when they drew 0-0 with Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of the Reds, said of the outcome: “I loved the recovery and the willingness to resolve the situation. Nil-nil. Not the most amazing, but it’s progress for us. It was a small move, but it was the right path.
“I don’t expect us to have no confidence, but I know we have to put the hard work first. It’s not a situation where you go out with backheels and one-twos. We have to ꜰɪɢʜᴛ through. I know that’s not what people want to hear, but you cannot change that.
“I saw a ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ good attitude from my team tonight and that’s what I ᴡᴀɴᴛᴇᴅ to see. This is the basis for the rest of the season.”
Paul Ince disagrees with Micah Richards after criticism over Jurgen Klopp decision
Micah Richards has criticized Jurgen Klopp for being overly devoted to his Liverpool team, but Paul Ince gives an honest assessment and disputes that claim.
Paul Ince has refuted claims that Jurgen Klopp has been “too loyal” to specific Liverpool players and is confident that the German coach will improve their situation after a lackluster 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
In the ʙᴀᴛᴛʟᴇ for a Champions League spot, the Reds are currently seven points down of Tottenham in fourth position. Newcastle, Brighton, and Manchester United are all quite likely to finish inside the top four this season, but they do have a game in hand on Spurs.
With Liverpool’s schedule expected to improve following their match against Arsenal on Sunday, it might come down to the wire. Even if Liverpool does win the Champions League, the team is anticipated to undergo a significant revamp at the end of the campaign.
Micah Richards suggested that as Klopp prepares for a significant shift in the club’s circumstances in the summer, he might need to be a little more ruthless. “Klopp has been too loyal to some of the ᴍᴇɴ who have been with him throughout and a little too slow in refreshing,” he wrote in the Daily Mail.
Ince, a former midfielder for Liverpool, disagrees and says that hasn’t been the case. I’m not so sure, he admitted when speaking with the Sporting Post. For Liverpool, Klopp has been absolutely fantastic. It’s difficult when you consider all that he has given to Liverpool, the city, the supporters, and the general populace. The journey has been unbelievable.
“Sir Alex Ferguson was so great because he knew when he had to try and change players, and bring in other players. To oversee the transition from the older generation to the new generation. There was always one or two players that had to be changed.
“Klopp knows that he needs to rebuild, but it doesn’t ᴍᴇᴀɴ that the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho can’t do a good job at Liverpool. I don’t think Klopp’s that way – where he’ll want to stay loyal to players for the sake of it.
“I think Klopp knows what he wants and at the moment he’s not getting it and he’d be disappointed with the form at the moment. At the end of the day they’ve still got a chance and we have to see what happens.”
Liverpool’s goalless draw against Chelsea leaves them with an outside chance of jumping into the top four places. Speaking after the game, Klopp said: “Both teams played last year in two finals, two of the best 0-0s I ever saw.
“It was two teams low on confidence but ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ꜰɪɢʜᴛɪɴɢ. We’re fine with a point, a lot of good stuff. We showed a lot of ꜰɪɢʜᴛ. We have to keep going. We struggled with the last line in the beginning but changed three times. The balls in behind were tricky but then we recovered well. We got better into the game.”
