After losing 2 games in a row, Al-Nassr added Aymeric Laporte to support Ronaldo in defence

Spain central defender Aymeric Laporte is on his way to leave Man City to join Al Nassr when entering the final stage of negotiations with the giants of Saudi Arabia.

In the middle of last week, Man City agreed to sell Aymeric Laporte to Al Nassr, and “gave the green light” for the Spain international to negotiate personal terms with the Saudi giants. The reigning European Cup Winners are expected to receive around 17 million pounds (20 million euros) in transfer fees and the deal is only waiting for a nod from the 29-year-old midfielder to be completed.

According to the latest information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Nassr and Laporte have reached the final stage of negotiations. Basically, the two sides have agreed on a contract term of 3 years. The remaining problem is the salary when the Saudi giants want to reduce “fairly” compared to the original offer.

Specifically, Al Nassr once offered to pay Laporte 23 million euros per season but is now negotiating to reduce it to 18.4 million euros per season. The number given by the team that owns Cristiano Ronaldo is still very high, so it is likely that the two sides will soon find a common voice.

Laporte has no longer kept the starting position at Man City, with only 24 appearances, including 12 appearances in the Premier League last season. In addition to the fact that Josko Gvardiol was bought for a transfer fee of up to 90 million pounds, the 29-year-old star is considered to have no place to act at Etihad.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s Al Nassr is going through a very busy transfer window and has brought in a number of names from Europe. The Saudi giants have successfully recruited stars including Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana and Alex Telles but still lack a defensive leader like Laporte. This can be considered the reason why they lost the first 2 matches in the Saudi Pro League.
