Jürgen Klopp should leave of Liverpool this summer
Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann believes Jürgen Klopp should leave the club in the summer since the current situation is unlikely to alter under his leadership.
The Reds have had a difficult season, having already been ousted from all cup competitions and battling for a spot in Europe as they sit seventh in the Premier League standings.
A goalless draw with Chelsea on Tuesday night did nothing to appease the doubters, among whom Hamann has been one of the most strident in recent months, continuing his spat with Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
The former Germany midfielder has once again slammed the door in his compatriot’s face, insisting that he should leave Anfield at the end of the season.
Yet, Hamann concedes that part of the problems arise from owners who are unwilling or unable to compete with transfer offers from other clubs.
‘If Klopp continues, I’m afraid it won’t be any better next year since Liverpool’s owners never spend money like other clubs,’ says one supporter. Sky Deutschland’s Sky 90 spoke with Hamann.
‘He wouldn’t have earned it, and neither would Liverpool and Klopp’s incredible partnership.’
As a result, in the summer, a haircut is ideal for all parties. Klopp wants to do it and feels he can do it, but I have significant misgivings.’
In January, Hamann questioned Klopp’s desire and will to continue a project at Liverpool, despite the f/a/c/t that the current roster clearly needs a major revamp.
‘[He] needs to build a new team,’ he said on talkSPORT. The question is whether he has the motivation, hunger, and energy to do so, considering that they lack the financial resources that the other teams have.
‘Players who used to cost £35m now cost £70-80m, and Liverpool are unwilling to pay that.’
The question is whether he has the drive, ambition, and endurance to contend with the financial gaps between the greatest teams in the coming years.
‘They may finish in the top four, but their current position indicates how good they are.
‘At the moment, they are unlikely to be in the top four.
‘They’re now a top six or top seven team, and I don’t think that’s his goal for the next five years at Liverpool if he stays.’
Klopp warn Arsenal
On Sunday, Arsenal will go to Anfield to face a Liverpool club that has struggled for consistency this season.
Liverpool was seeking a historic quadruple this time last year, but they have fallen short this season, winning just 12 of their 28 league games and finishing ninth.
Manchester City smashed Liverpool 4-1 over the weekend, while the Reds drew 0-0 with managerless Chelsea on Tuesday night.
Yet, Klopp believes Liverpool’s performance at Stamford Bridge was a “little step in the right direction” and wants them to improve on it when they face the Premier League leaders.
Klopp, who guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2020, says Arsenal is “flying” and “performing amazing football,” but believes they can be ƅҽɑтen if they play to their full potential.
‘The next game is against Arsenal,’ Klopp said after the draw at Chelsea Bridge. ‘I’m not sure where Arsenal was last year, but they are now unquestionably soaring, in incredible form, and playing beautiful football that is really pleasurable to watch.
We’re here, though, because it’s a home game, and our home record isn’t as bad as our away record. It implies I’m looking forward to this game since I saw a step today that was precisely what I was searching for.
‘All right, let’s continue. Anfield expects us, and we want to deliver. We have ten games remaining, the next of which is against Arsenal. [The other nine games] don’t appeal to me.
‘But, the next game is against Arsenal, so if we are difficult to b/e/a/t against Arsenal, we may win this game. If not, Arsenal will just go over us and see what happens.
‘With one exception, as I already said, the steps are not large. If you win a football game, you receive three points for one game; wow, things can change quickly.’ For the time being, though, we have no shortage of goals or destinations in mind; we just want to be as successful as possible.
‘But, it means we want to win every weekend, or every midweek game, like today. I saw it tonight and I’m OK with it.’
Former Brighton defender Bruno Saltor took over as Chelsea manager against Liverpool after Graham Potter was dismissed over the weekend. Potter, 47, has been in charge of the Blues for less than seven months.
