‘Anfield mural’: Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stirring tribute to Liverpool supporters

Trent was the first to see it in person, and it’s immediately drawing attention.

Trent Alexander-Arnold expressed a potent message regarding the striking mural of himself that was painted on a row house close to Anfield.

At the intersection of Sybil Street and Anfield Road, a building bears a three-story-tall mural of the Liverpool right-back.

Although it has already attracted attention, Trent, 20, and his older brother Tyler were able to witness it firsthand today.

The Anfield Wrap, a Liverpool FC fan podcast, organized the painting as a means to celebrate a remarkable season and to encourage other kids.

Trent also had a significant message for the city’s youth on the painting and what he believes it would symbolize for others.

“The main message that kids should be picking up from me and my story is that anything is possible and anything can happen – because I was once that kid in a Gerrard or Carragher shirt,” he told the ECHO during the mural’s ceremonial presentation.

They were the team members who were from the area, and they gave me the impression that everything was possible.

“It wasn’t the players coming in, it was the guys saying they were just normal lads in Liverpool and it’s just a cycle of being a normal lad and being able to see people living their dream and living your dream,” the guys stated.

I’m hoping that’s the lesson the young people are learning from what’s going on.

Young people in the neighborhood are clearly drawn to the artwork, as evidenced by the daily presence of a steady stream of children wearing Trent shirts who come to the street to take pictures.

The piece was painted by French graffiti artist Akse, who also did the Klopp mural in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. MGS Estates made it possible by permitting the side of their building to be changed.

Trent stated he initially dismissed the notion as a “wind up” but that seeing the enormous mural so close to the ground made him want to pinch himself.

When he realized it was real, he said: “It’s something you always dream about, but you never realize that this could happen. At first, I thought it was a wind up.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who made it happen. It’s something to be incredibly proud of and something that me and my family are over the moon with.”

You can never fully imagine that anything like this will occur and that you’ll end up with something like this on the side of a skyscraper, he continued.

Although it kind of caught me off guard, it’s something I’ve always wanted to happen. Perhaps it has arrived a little early to get to this point, but being a part of something like this is fantastic.

Fans Supporting Foodbanks, a significant local charity, will also be highlighted by the painting in an effort to raise public awareness of the good work they perform in the neighborhood.

Trent emphasized the significance of the mural’s message when he said: “It’ll be great to see all the fans with it and perhaps garner some more support for the foodbanks – that’s the main reason it’s there at the end of the day.

“Obviously, the message that is sent is more significant than merely the image. In an effort to combat poverty and hunger in the city, it is hoped that this would increase awareness and remind people that they may always give back when they are able.

“The pictures don’t even do it justice even though you know that it’s amazing in the pictures,” said the author. “In real life it’s amazing and something that hopefully will stay for a while.”
