Liverpool’s bid to recruit Fluminense midfielder Andre has fallen through, and it may be a case of now or never.
Fluminense are standing hard on midfielder Andre Trindade, telling Liverpool that he is not for sale at the moment.
According to ESPN, Liverpool has made a bid of €30 million (£25.5 million) for Andre.
Liverpool are said to be desperate to sign Andre before the transfer deadline next week.
Fluminense, on the other hand, has no intention of letting that happen because of their Copa Libertadores chances.
Fernando Diniz’s team has advanced to the quarter-finals and will face Paraguayan side Olimpia in the first leg this week.
Fluminense wants to keep their top midfielder beyond the European transfer deadline because the final isn’t until November.
Fluminense is said to have told Liverpool that even if they increase on their £25.5 million offer, there will be no deal.
Similarly, Liverpool’s current stance is that they will not pursue Amdre in the January transfer window.
The Reds are looking for a midfielder right now, and if Fluminense refuses to trade Andre, they are prepared to move on to other options.
Fluminense are in a strong position because Andre is under contract until December 2026, making Liverpool’s pursuit harder.
Andre wants to join Liverpool but may be unable to do so.
This circumstance may be frustrating not only for Liverpool, but also for Andre.
According to Brazilian reporter Emmanuel Luiz of The Redmen TV, Andre has informed Fluminense of his desire to join Liverpool.
Luiz believes that Andre has a personal deal with the Reds, with Manchester United aware of his desire to transfer to Anfield and registering an interest themselves.
Fluminense are dead set on winning the Copa Libertadores, therefore a deal could be difficult.
The 22-year-old has succeeded in Fluminense’s holding midfield role and is viewed as the ideal younger prospect to learn from veteran new arrival Wataru Endo.
Both Liverpool and Fluminense require Andre right now, which implies a true standoff over a prospective trade – and if it doesn’t happen by next Friday, Liverpool may abandon their interest in the Brazilian.
