Arsenal transfer target Kaoru Mitoma has been compared by former player Tony Cascarino to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.
Mitoma joins Brighton in 2021 from Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale and has made an unbelievable start to the Premier League. He scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 41 games in his first season with Brighton.
And Mitoma’s high form continues this season. He has 1 goal and 2 assists in the opening 2 Premier League matches of 2023/24. This makes him known as the “new Ryan Giggs” by the former Cascarino player.
The former Chelsea and Aston Villa striker has heaped praise on the Japan international on talkSPORT, citing similarities between him and the 13-time Premier League winner.
Cascarino said: “Mitoma is on another level. Watching him kick is like watching Ryan Giggs at his best. I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to play at the same time as Giggs and now I’m seeing his silhouette. he’s at Mitoma”.
The Japanese star is currently on Arsenal’s radar as the Gunners look for new attacking options. But after having sold Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, Brighton did not want to lose another star.
The Gunners have spent £200m this summer but are not ready to stop. They are desperate for revenge after losing the Premier League title last season to Man City. Therefore, the addition of Mitoma can be of great help to the Gunners.
