PSG holds secret ballot to elect captain, Kylian Mbappe received only 1 vote to be the captain

No one in the PSG team elected Kylian Mbappe as captain, except Achraf Hakimi. The list of 4 leaders of the Paris team has been officially confirmed.

RMC Sport revealed Mbappe received only 1 vote in the election of the PSG captain for the new 2023/24 season in the second secret vote at the beginning of the week. And that person is none other than a close friend – defender Achraf Hakimi. Even so, he was still in the team’s leader quartet.

Specifically, midfielder Marquinhos will continue to wear the captain’s armband of the Ligue 1 champions, when receiving the highest trust.

Marquinhos has captained PSG since his compatriot, Thiago Silva, left Paris three years ago.

However, Marquinhos’ position was shaken due to poor performance last season, along with PSG’s drastic reorganization of the squad. He started the new season on the bench (PSG 0-0 Lorient), but returned to the starting line-up against Toulouse (draw 1-1) on Sunday.

Next to Marquinhos are three vice-captains (who will take the role of captain if the previous one is not on the field): Danilo Pereira, who played a role in the opening match against Lorient, the ‘old’ Presnel Kimpempe and finally Mbappe.

With the French striker, although temporarily resolving the disagreement with PSG to be able to return to training and playing, his future in Paris is still uncertain.

There is information, Real Madrid can ‘beat’ Mbappe on the last day of the transfer because they want to have him this summer instead of watching the 24-year-old goalscorer renew PSG again.
