Belgian winger Johan Bakayoko has been making waves in the Dutch Eredivisie. With his excellent play this season, he has established himself as a key player in PSV’s attacking arsenal. Notably, in just four UEFA Champions League qualifying games, Bakayoko has provided three assists.
BURNLEY’S BID WAS REJECTED
Burnley made a £17 million bid for Bakayoko’s services. PSV, on the other hand, quickly declined, preferring a more lucrative arrangement. Not only are English clubs interested in the youngster; Napoli of Italy’s Serie A has also expressed interest.
PSV’S EXPECTATIONS AND VALUATION
Rik Elfrink, a well-known football journalist, has stated on Twitter that PSV is expecting bids from both Liverpool and Napoli. According to reports, the Dutch group is hoping to pay roughly €35 million for Bakayoko.
“Johan Bakayoko can go to Burnley,” says a journalist. PSV does not want to do this right now and can instead wait for interest from clubs such as Liverpool and Napoli. “What should we do with a higher bid of around $25-30 million?”
BAKAYOKO’S OUTSTANDING TRACK RECORD
Last season, Bakayoko made 39 appearances for PSV, scoring 9 goals and setting up 4 more. PSV is in a good negotiating position because its contract runs until 2025.
THE TRANSFER DILEMMA AT LIVERPOOL
Liverpool’s interest in Bakayoko is obvious, particularly given the club’s limited options on the right wing. Ben Doak is the only other obvious possibility besides Salah. Bakayoko may provide the depth that Liverpool requires. With the Reds also interested in midfield and defense, it’s unclear whether they’ll enter the fight for the Belgian starlet.
