Manchester United’s decision to sell Ethan Laird to Birmingham City this summer may prove to be a serious mistake, as the young right-back has made a sensational start to the season.
Laird was transferred for a mere £750,000, although there is a sell-on clause in the deal. However, this amount seems like a pittance considering the quality he possesses as a player.
Having spent several loan spells in recent seasons and amassing over 50 appearances in the Championship for various teams, Laird was deemed unlikely to make it at Manchester United and was subsequently sold.
However, with his impressive performances at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season, there is a growing concern that United may come to regret this decision.
