Coach Jurgen Klopp: ‘The win against Newcastle is more classic than the upstream against Barca’

After an impressive 2-1 comeback win over Newcastle, coach Klopp claimed the victory reminded him of the classic comeback against Barcelona in the Champions League. He was even more appreciative.

In the third round of the Premier League last night, Liverpool defeated Newcastle 2-1 away. Liverpool were leading 1 goal early and in the 38th minute, Van Dijk left the field because of a red card, causing the home team to face many difficulties and stand before a strong defeat.

However, they still resisted successfully. Even at the end of the game, Darwin Nunez came on from the bench and scored twice to help Liverpool win 2-1 away.

In an interview after the game, Liverpool coach Klopp said that this victory reminded him of the classic comeback against Barcelona in the Champions League (lost 0-3 and won 4-0 in the second leg). He was even more appreciative.

“This game is more difficult than the one against Barcelona,” Klopp said. We didn’t start well, conceded 1 goal and received a red card. But then we played better and better. After the first half, we felt hopeful.”

“Nunez was so good, I don’t think we needed a lot of luck. We let the game cool and put Nunes on the pitch. Obviously, Nunez is not very happy (when he is not starting). But we are still at the stage. Early in the season and we need stability.

He will play, no doubt, I need every player. We have a new squad. It’s a whole new team and people need time to get used to it. Nunez scored 2 goals and smiled. It was a great moment for the whole team.”

Excitement is also a common feeling of goalkeeper Alisson, who has performed excellently in this match. Liverpool’s “keeper” said: “You cannot underestimate Liverpool even in such a game. When a team is united, you can do a lot on the pitch. We believe that we are always there. I had a chance and I believe I can do something tonight. This is a game that will go down in history.”
