For the second weekend in a row, Liverpool rallied from behind to defeat Newcastle United on Sunday.
A late brace from replacement Darwin Nunez cancelled out an early score from Anthony Gordon as the Reds won 2-1 despite being down to 10 men after Virgil van Dijk was sent off.
Liverpool will now look to build on their strong start to the season when they host Aston Villa next Sunday.
And now we look ahead to see what adjustments Jurgen Klopp might make when his squad returns to action.
Reservations for central locations
Liverpool are practically certain to be without their first-choice center-back partnership, with Virgil van Dijk suspended and Ibrahima Konate questionable due to a muscular ailment that prompted him to miss the game against Newcastle.
On Tyneside, Joel Matip started and was quickly joined by Joe Gomez, with Jarell Quansah making his debut from the bench. Nat Phillips could leave before the transfer deadline on Friday.
With Gomez needed elsewhere and Conor Bradley injured, Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to remain at right back. Andy Robertson was brilliant on Sunday and maintains his lead over Kostas Tsimikas at left back, while Alisson Becker once again proved why he is the uncontested first-choice goalkeeper, with Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian filling in.
Is it the same as before?
Liverpool will hope to have more options in midfield with both Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones set to return to full training this week, the former after a four-month absence and the latter after a few weeks.
Stefan Bajcetic has received additional training time but has yet to play after returning to the bench last weekend against Bournemouth following his own lengthy injury hiatus.
However, it appears like the same midfield that started against Newcastle will be retained, with defensive midfielder Wataru Endo making his debut and both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai contributing significantly to the win.
Harvey Elliott once again established his worth with another superb cameo and can’t be far behind, while Cody Gakpo has returned as an attacking option.
Nunez’s dilemma
The biggest question for Klopp is whether to reward Nunez for his two goals by giving him only his second start down the middle of the attack since February, with Gakpo and, more lately, Diogo Jota preferred in that position.
Luis Diaz, who scored in the first two games of the season, was sacrificed when Van Dijk was sent off, and he will face criticism for his role from both Gakpo and Jota, the latter of whom impressed from the bench at St James’ Park.
Mohamed Salah has spent much of the last two games up front in a 4-4-1 with Liverpool down to ten men, but he is first-choice on the right flank. Ben Doak, a teenager, was once again on the bench at the weekend.
