Liverpool are targeting the disgraced Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix in the event that star Mohamed Salah moves to the Saudi side, Al-Ittihad.
The Portuguese player, who is likened to the “second Ronaldo” is a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah if the Egyptian star leaves Anfield.
Salah is currently the target of Saudi Pro League champion Al-Ittihad – who have offered a five-year contract and a salary of £ 100 million per season for the former Chelsea and AS Roma striker.
The 31-year-old is said to have told Liverpool he wants to leave and the Merseyside team are rushing to find a replacement. According to A Bola, Felix is a possible target and could be bid for £60m.
However, Liverpool will face competition to sign Felix from Benfica, Barcelona and Al-Hilal, sources in Spain added.
Felix spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, scoring four goals in 16 Premier League appearances. The Portuguese has struggled to find playing opportunities since returning to Atletico Madrid.
Felix is yet to feature this season and was left out of the squad for last weekend’s clash with Real Betis and was unused in last night’s destructive 7-0 win over Vallecano despite being on the bench.
With Salah, the current Egyptian star is still shining at Liverpool despite his connection to the departure. Salah played a key role in Sunday’s win over Newcastle, setting up the winning goal in injury time for Darwin Nunez at St. James’ Park.
