Bailey Zappe has been added to Patriots’ practice squad ahead of the season opener

The season opener for the New England Patriots versus the high-powered Philadelphia Eagles is now less than two weeks away! The Pats’ roster is still being tweaked.

Earlier today, the team re-signed quarterback Bailey Zappe and rookie Malik Cunningham, who were both released the day before. After clearing waivers, second-year quarterback Zappe was assigned to the practice squad.

Zappe, who struggled at times in camp this summer, filled in admirably for an injured Mac Jones last season. The Patriots are still likely to bring in a proven backup quarterback.
