Arsenal received bad news when key midfielder Thomas Partey suffered a hamstring injury and had to take a break for about 3 months.
The Ghana national team has confirmed this information. Earlier, there were many rumors about Partey suddenly injured in training with Arsenal. Many reviews believe that the Gunners deliberately spread the word before the big battle with MU, but Partey’s injury is true.
“Thomas Partey was injured during training and may have to sit out for a while. However, the medical team of the “Black Stars” (nickname of the Ghana national team) is monitoring the situation,” The Ghana Football Federation posted a notice.
Partey has torn his hamstring and is expected to be out of the field for about 3 months. This season, the 30-year-old player has been appointed by coach Mikel Arteta to start at Arsenal’s right-back position. However, that is actually just a way to arrange the tactical diagram, because when entering the match, Partey often rises high to play as his forte defensive midfielder.
Partey’s long-term injury is a big blow to Arsenal. Earlier, the Gunners lost rookie defender Jurrien Timber to a knee injury suffered in the opening match of the Premier League 2023/24. Thus, in the match with MU at the Emirates, Arsenal will most likely let Ben White kick right-back, and the central defender pair is Gabriel – William Saliba.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico in 2020 for £45 million. Since then, he has become an important link in the midfield of the club. If he hadn’t suffered so many injuries, the Ghana international could certainly have contributed more to the Gunners. To date, Partey has made 103 appearances for Arsenal, contributing 5 goals and 4 assists.
