Liverpool has completed the signing of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich, for about 35 million pounds. At the new club, Gravenberch chose a shirt number no one has worn at Liverpool in the past five years.
Overcoming MU, Liverpool quickly owned Gravenberch . Immediately, Gravenberch signed a 5-year contract with Liverpool. The Dutch midfielder is Liverpool’s fourth rookie in this summer transfer window, after Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.
Notably, all four of these contracts are midfielders. This is a position that coach Jurgen Klopp especially prioritizes after the departure of a series of familiar names such as Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. As for Ryan Gravenberch, he landed at Anfield after 1 season at Bayern.
At the new team, he will wear shirt number 38. This is the first time this shirt number has been used at Anfield in 5 years. The last person to use it was a player from Liverpool’s academy, Jon Flanagan. He was once highly appreciated by the former Cafu player, but was not able to mature as expected.
“I’m so happy, so glad this deal is done, and I’m here at last. If you look from the outside, this is one of the biggest football teams in the world. Everything about Liverpool, from the fans, to the stadium, is great. That’s why I joined Liverpool,” Gravenberch said. “I will give my all for Liverpool. My goal is to win titles. To do this, we will play well and show everyone who we are.”
Ryan Gravenberch is considered a versatile midfielder, able to play well in both the number 6 and number 8 roles. He is a product of the Ajax youth academy, and was promoted to the first team in 2018. Gravenberch appeared on the field. 103 times in all competitions, scoring 12 goals before joining Bayern last summer. Unfortunately, he is rarely used at the Allianz Arena.
