Tears are anticipated to flow at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, as nostalgia sweeps through Foxborough with former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady returning to his old haunts. During halftime of their game against the reigning NFC champions Philadelphia Eagles, the Pats will pay tribute to the iconic quarterback.
Brady was overcome with emotion on a recent episode of his Let’s Go podcast when discussing his upcoming appearance at the Patriots’ home stadium.
“Thank you very much.” Tom Brady stated, “I had two decades of incredible life-changing, life-altering experiences.” (h/t Mark Daniels of MassLive). “From my stay there, I have so many memories. Memories with the folks who were present. I’m making new memories with the ones who are present. To return to that stadium and bring my children and family in a different way. I’ve never visited that stadium in this manner before. I went there to play. I went there as a competitor once. And now I’m going there as a fan, and then I’ll be there as a broadcaster in the future.”
Tom Brady spent nearly two decades with the Patriots during his legendary NFL career. Brady played with the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2019 and guided the team to six Super Bowl championships. He won another Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he will always be identified with the Patriots first and foremost. The former quarterback’s return to Foxborough on Sunday should be as remarkable.
“So, I don’t think it’ll be difficult to be a fan.” I enjoy the sport and root for the Patriots. So traveling up there to visit a lot of my friends and family will be a fantastic experience,” Brady continued.
