Luis Suarez praised Liverpool attacker Darwin Nunez on Instagram for a ‘tremendous’ performance after Uruguay defeated Chile 3-1 in their World Cup qualifying opener.
Following a great start to the current Premier League season for Liverpool, the hard-hitting goalscorer has carried his form into the international scene with Uruguay – Ian Wright has also stated that people are making a ‘huge mistake’ with Nunez.
While Darwin Nunez did not score, he did assist Nicolas de la Cruz to start the scoring and played 73 minutes in what was Marcelo Bielsa’s first game in charge of the national team.
There’s a long way to go, but it’s a good start for Nunez, who wants to take his country to the 2026 World Cups in the United States and Mexico – he got a taste of it last year in Qatar.
Nunez and Uruguay’s next stop is another World Cup qualifier, with the 24-year-old due to face two familiar Premier League faces in Moises Caicedo and Pervis Estupinan of Ecuador.
Nonetheless, when Nunez responded to Uruguay’s victory on Instagram, Luis Suarez left a public message in the comments section.
Darwin Nunez’s letter from Luis Suarez
Nunez will now be poised to push on and establish his worth to the rest of the world after settling in throughout his first year.
In comparison to previous season, he hasn’t been sent off, so from that standpoint, it’s been a fantastic start, not to mention that performance away at Newcastle United.
Not only for Liverpool, but also for Nunez, it might be defining in the long run because that type of performance was required.
