Portugal defeated Luxembourg 9-0 in tonight’s European Championship qualification match at the Estadio Algarve, with Manchester United player Bruno Fernandes giving a superb effort.
With Cristiano Ronaldo sidelined, the Portuguese superstar played a key role in tonight’s victory, as the Selecao retained their unblemished record in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Roberto Martinez’s club has gone undefeated in their last six games, allowing no goals and scoring 24 themselves. This current victory marks the country’s largest-ever triumph.
Portugal now leads Group J by five points over Slovakia, which they defeated the previous Friday in Bratislava. Luxembourg is in third place, three points behind the leader.
According to the club’s official website, Fernandes, who scored the game-winning goal against Slovakia, assisted on three goals and scored one himself as the Reds controlled the game.
In only an hour of play, the United maestro created seven scoring chances while showing his control in midfield.
