Marc Kosicke, Jurgen Klopp’s agent, has shut down suggestions that the Liverpool manager could take over as manager of the German national side.
Germany is now without a permanent head coach after Hansi Flick was fired following a 4-1 friendly defeat to Japan on Saturday.
The former Bayern Munich manager was fired after winning only four of his final 17 matches in charge of der Mannschaft.
Rudi Voller was appointed as Germany’s interim coach for Tuesday’s friendly against France in Dortmund, which Germany won 2-0 thanks to goals from Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane.
With the players due to return to their clubs after the international break, the DFB will now focus entirely on the search for a new manager.
With Germany hosting Euro 2024 next summer, they will be eager to identify Flick’s replacement as soon as possible, especially with extra international games scheduled in October and November.
According to a recent source, Klopp is on an eight-man shortlist, with the Liverpool manager regarded as Germany’s ‘dream’ choice.
Klopp’s agency, on the other hand, has shot down talk that his client could be named the new head coach of the German national team.
On Tuesday evening, Kosicke told Sportschau, “Jurgen has a long-term contract with LFC and is not available for the national coaching position.”
Klopp, who took over as manager of Liverpool in 2015, has three years left on his current contract.
Klopp has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the Community Shield with Liverpool.
The 56-year-old will be focused on Saturday’s Premier League away game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Liverpool will try to keep their unbeaten start to the season going after collecting 10 points from their opening four games.
