Manchester United will aim to rebound when they host high-flying Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Brighton and Manchester United last played at Old Trafford on the first day of the 2022/23 season, when the Seagulls defeated Erik ten Hag in his debut at the Theatre of Dreams.
Over a year later, that loss remains Ten Hag’s sole home league loss since his arrival, and he will seek vengeance.
His chances of retaliation will be hampered by the fact that Brighton have improved tenfold since that game at Old Trafford.
A loss after the week United has had would be disastrous, but favorable injury updates have raised optimism once again.
Manchester United’s predicted lineup vs. Brighton
Let’s take a look at how we think Manchester United will line up against Brighton at Old Trafford, with numerous elements influencing selection.
Andre Onana will start in goal in search of his second clean sheet of the season, while Altay Bayindir will be on the bench.
We expect the same full-back pairing as against Arsenal, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right and Diogo Dalot on the left. Sergio Regulion will return to the bench.
Both Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez, who were both pulled against Arsenal, are now fit and likely to start. Harry Maguire will have to make do with a bench spot.
With Sofyan Amrabat now ruled out due to injury, we believe Ten Hag will stick with his tried-and-true combination of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Bruno Fernandes ahead of them.
Marcus Rashford will remain on the left wing after scoring his first goal of the season against Arsenal. The absence of both Antony and Jadon Sancho on the right should give Facundo Pellistri the starting berth by default.
Rasmus Hojlund, our huge Danish forward, gets his first start, and what a game to do it in.
Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen; Pellistri, Bruno, Rashford; Hojlund;
