Liverpool have confirmed that they will display their new third kit for the first time on Thursday night against LASK in Europe.
The Reds will travel to Austria this week to begin their Europa League campaign against LASK, a team they have never faced before.
It’s only fitting that Liverpool debut their new purple third uniform in this first-time match.
The club has confirmed that they will wear the Nike kit in midweek, which will be one of the few times this season.
Liverpool donned their green third kit only four times in the first team last season, against Ajax, Aston Villa, Brentford, and Southampton, with the home uniform being worn more frequently on the road.
A third uniform is normally only worn in the event of a rare kit clash with both the home and away kits; in this case, the white-and-green away outfit is ineligible because LASK wear white at home.
There is also a limit on the number of games in which clubs can wear any uniform, with a match at the Raiffeisen Arena seen as a good time to debut the purple shirt, shorts, and socks.
The third kit was debuted in August at a BOSS Night fan event at the Olympia in the city, which was attended by Alisson and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Alisson played Allez, Allez, Allez on his guitar for the audience, then both players joined in for You’ll Never Walk Alone.
