‘Thiago future’: Liverpool open talks over Thiago deal

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have begun negotiations with Thiago Alcantara over his future at the club.

His contract at Anfield is slated to expire at the conclusion of the season, thus the parties are in talks.

However, it is understood that conversations with Thiago’s representatives over a renewal are still in the early stages.

Before making an offer to the 32-year-old, Liverpool wants to see an improvement in his availability and appearance record.

During the summer transfer season, the midfielder was extensively connected with Turkish and Saudi Arabian clubs, but no deal materialized before their respective deadlines.

Liverpool refused to terminate Thiago’s contract earlier this month (14 September), allowing him to arrange a last-minute move to Turkey.

During the summer transfer window, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both secured large-money deals to Saudi Arabia.

Thiago, whose Liverpool career has been plagued by injuries, could possibly join the ex-Reds duo.

Due to a hip injury, the former Bayern Munich midfielder is yet to participate in the 2023-24 season.

Since joining the Merseysiders in 2021, he has struggled with his fitness and has made just 97 appearances in a Liverpool shirt.

Thiago appeared in 28 games across all competitions last season, but only started 21 of them.

Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Alex Mac Allister were all signed by Liverpool over the summer.

To begin the 2018 Premier League season, the Reds have collected 13 points out of a possible 15.
