Liverpool returns to Premier League action on Sunday with a match at Anfield against David Moyes’ West Ham United, who have started the season well.
Jürgen Klopp’s men headed to Austria in midweek to face LASK in the Europa League, going down a goal only to triumph 3-1. Darwin Nez scored from a penalty earned by Luis Daz before the Colombian scored himself. Mohamed Salah scored a late third goal.
This continued Liverpool’s great start to the season, in which only Chelsea has prevented them from winning. With Mauricio Pochettino’s team struggling at the present, it remains to be seen how that outcome should be interpreted.
West Ham, on the other hand, has already beaten Brighton away this season and has only lost to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. The Reds will face a stiff test against the London side, which features some quality players such as Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paquetá, and James Ward-Prowse.
Klopp made 11 changes for the Europa League, and while Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté are set to keep their spots after playing mostly to acquire some rhythm, everyone else is at risk of being dropped.
If Trent Alexander-Arnold is unable to return in time for the game, Joe Gomez will step in, and Andy Robertson will return. Ryan Gravenberch left the game on Thursday with cramp, but Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Curtis Jones are all expected to participate.
