Bruno Fernandes gave up the Man of the Match award to Jonny Evans after the 1-0 win over Burnley.
Bruno Fernandes was awarded the title of Best Player of the match at Turf Moor. The Portuguese star launched a perfect volley to defeat Burnley’s goalkeeper at the end of the first half. That was also the only goal of the match.
However, Jonny Evans also had an outstanding match when he started for MU for the first time in more than 8 years. The Northern Irish player scored a header in the first half but was denied by VAR. At the end of the half, it was Evans who provided the assist for Bruno Fernandes to score the goal.
After the match, Bruno Fernandes gave up the Man of the Match award to Jonny Evans. Bruno also gave compliments to the 35-year-old Man United midfielder.
“That was a great pass from Jonny Evans. I know he has a great ability to pass the ball from the back with both feet. I was waiting for that pass. Burnley creates space at the back but it is sometimes difficult to take advantage of. And we took advantage of the opportunity when it arose.
We know we are in a difficult time but we always believe we can bounce back. Of course, this was not the best performance but the 3 points are the most important thing.”
Coach Ten Hag also praised Jonny Evans after this match: “He brings calm to the team. His technique is very impressive, as shown in the goal.”
