‘I will even play as a goalkeeper!’ – Amrabat shared that he can play any position if asked by the coach and it can help Man Utd win

Sofyan Amrabat had his first start for MU against Crystal Palace and coach Erik ten Hag used this player as a left-back instead of a midfielder.

In the recent match against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, coach Erik ten Hag named Sofyan Amrabat in the starting lineup. However, the Moroccan player plays in the left-back position instead of the usual defensive midfielder.

Coach Erik ten Hag had explanations for his decision. He shared: “It’s true that Amrabat normally plays in the midfield, but he can also play as a defender. Amrabat can play anywhere the coach asks.

Amrabat entered the field to become a warrior, always completing the assigned task and that is Amrabat’s style. This is Amrabat’s first match on the field from the start and both he and I are looking forward to this debut.”

The Moroccan midfielder also shared his thoughts after the debut of his new team at Old Trafford. Amrabat said: ” I asked the coach what position he wanted me to play. If the coach asked me to be a goalkeeper, I would do it too.

Today I played left back, but I can also play well in midfield, everything is good. I’m not a pure left-back, but I can still be a backup for the team. Of course, I prefer to play midfielder, but if the coach asks, I can play anywhere!”

Amrabat played 61 minutes in the Palace match before being taken off in the 61st minute, making way for Dan Gore. Coach Erik ten Hag was also satisfied with what MU showed in this match.
