Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, has confirmed that Ben Chilwell is injured once more. The full-back is scheduled for tests after worsening a hamstring issue.
Mauricio Pochettino has caused new doubts about Ben Chilwell’s health by disclosing that the Chelsea full-back suffered an ιnjury during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup victory over Brighton.
Chelsea defeated Brighton 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a goal from Nicolas Jackson in the second half of the game.
For the Brighton match, the Blues manager selected a significantly altered lineup, starting Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, a £115 million summer acquisition, and Mykhailo Mudryk. The England international Chilwell also got off to a start and appeared to play the entire game until he hobbled off in the last seven minutes of stoppage time, creating alarming scenes.
After the game, Pochettino disclosed that Chilwell, who has suffered from ailments since joining Chelsea from Leicester three years ago, might need to miss a significant amount of time due to his most recent issue. The 26-year-old missed significant portions of the previous campaign due to two hamstring problems, and Pochettino stated that it appears he has made the issue worse.
Chilwell, is he hurt? After Chelsea’s victory at home on Wednesday, the manager acknowledged this.
He continued, “I believe it is hamstring, but we need to evaluate it tomorrow.”
In what has been a terrible period for the team, victory over Roberto de Zerbi’s team was just the third home win since March at Stamford Bridge.
Although Todd Boehly’s large bankroll has not been able to address Stamford Bridge’s continuous issues with performance and recruitment, Pochettino thinks his team can gain momentum after winning the Carabao Cup.
Again, I am rather happy with the performance. I am glad we won, and it is crucial that we keep going and gain momentum. I want to use today to start building momentum for the future.
I am happy to see the strikers score because it is crucial. For him, the game held great significance, therefore he had to sense the net.
The team as a whole was excellent. Every player was performing at a very high level if we evaluate.
