When the Damian Lillard trade was announced, Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. shared his live reaction while on camera. “That’s good… we’ll see them in the Finals,” Porter said after asking for all of the deal facts.
Porter also noted the significant loss of Jrue Holiday, who was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the deal, but emphasized how formidable the duo of Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be. The Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets are the early favorites to meet in the NBA Finals, but things can always change quickly in this league.
Porter has every right to be confident in his squad after winning a championship. The Nuggets must be defeated before most people pick someone else to win it all, but the Bucks now appear to be in position to defeat anyone with the acquisition of Lillard.
The Bucks, who were already a formidable team, were able to add one of the best point guards of this generation. While Lillard is still waiting for his first championship, the Bucks will provide him with a tremendous chance to win one, and certainly a better one than Portland did.
The Nuggets will once again prioritize taking care of business as they prepare for a probable Finals clash with the new-look Bucks.
