Dominik Szoboszlai’s performance for Liverpool in their win over Nottingham Forest was described as frightening by Steve Nicol.
Nicol was speaking on ESPN after the Reds defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 at Anfield, bringing Jurgen Klopp’s side back to within three points of the Premier League lead.
There is no doubt that Dominik Szoboszlai was a fantastic acquisition. The Hungarian has quickly settled into life at Anfield.
In Liverpool’s victory, Steve Nicol was astounded by Dominik Szoboszlai.
In fact, some argue that Szoboszlai is the finest player in the Premier League this season. On Sunday, however, he unquestionably stole the show against Steve Cooper’s team.
Two of the goals were set up by the 23-year-old. According to Whoscored, he ended up making four important passes throughout the game. Szoboszlai also appeared to blanket every blade of grass throughout the triumph.
And Steve Nicol stated that Szoboszlai once again impressed him with his performance in the Reds’ stunning triumph.
“I’ve got to say, and once again, Szoboszlai is absolutely scary,” that’s what he said to ESPN. “He’s so smooth it’s terrifying.” And he always makes good decisions, always chooses the correct pass. So far, he’s been just fantastic. And may it endure indefinitely.”
The Reds may have discovered a future star
Liverpool have discovered yet another young player who has the potential to be a stalwart of the team for the next decade. The word ‘frightening’ was used by Nicol. Based on his debut in the Premier League, that appears to be the ideal word to characterize the Hungarian.
He has prior experience as a leader. And he’s quickly becoming one of Klopp’s first names on the team sheet.
Liverpool is still likely a couple of additions in key spots away from being the power they once were. However, they are rapidly moving in the correct way.
On Sunday, six of the starting lineup’s members were 25 or younger. There were also several other young players on the bench who made an impression.
Liverpool has a bright future ahead of them. And Szoboszlai will be an important component of that future.
