Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to make changes for the game, as he often does in domestic cup tournaments.
Liverpool is currently fighting on four fronts, and Klopp must manage his players properly.
Luke Chambers might replace Kostas Tsimikas at left-back for the Reds on their journey to the south coast.
With Andrew Robertson out, the left-back position will need to be managed cautiously. Fortunately for Klopp, he has two outstanding players in that position in Tsimikas and Chambers.
Liverpool has a rising star in Chambers.
Chambers is the latest Liverpool academy product to break into the first team after impressing in the youth setup.
In September, the 19-year-old earned his senior Reds debut against Leicester in the Carabao Cup. He then made his Europa League debut against Toulouse.
Chambers had a solid start, looking the part as Liverpool thrashed their opponents.
To be fair, he was considerably caught off guard by the opponents’ goal. He was, however, solid overall and came forward to support the attack.
‘He has a lot of potential.’
In an interview with TNT Sports via Goal.com, Liverpool player Trent Alexander-Arnold praised Chambers after the win.
“He’s put in all the hard work, he’s proven himself, he’s been outstanding every time,” he remarked.
“He’s been on and off the pitch with the team, and he plays amazing football.”
“It’s incredible to see him out there, and he’s a really amazing player with a lot of potential.”
“He put in an amazing performance out there, very mature, and contributed to a big win for us.”
Getting competitive senior game time for a team like Liverpool as a teenager is a difficult task.
If Chambers continues on this path, he has a chance to become a star like Alexander-Arnold.
