Liverpool snub Mo Salah’ Saudi transfer despite ‘life-changing’ updated offer

Salah was the subject of attention from Saudi Arabia throughout the summer, with Al Ittihad making a verbal offer of £150 million for the player at the end of the European transfer window.

Liverpool, however, turned down the offer, which is claimed to have been £100 million up front with an additional £50 million in add-ons, and reiterated that the Egypt international was not for sale.

However, it is commonly assumed that Liverpool have not yet recovered from the possibility of losing Salah to the Saudi Pro League in the next transfer windows.

Indeed, Football Insider reported in September that Al Ittihad were planning a £225 million approach for Salah in the final days of the Saudi transfer season.

While such a deal was never made, a ‘well-placed source’ has told the publication that the Saudi Pro League still has “huge interest” in Salah, with the league wanting to make the striker one of their crown jewels in 2024.

Liverpool, on the other hand, is reportedly unwilling to transfer Salah in January, regardless of the bids that come in.

Even if the player presses for a move, it is believed that the Reds’ owners will not sell the 31-year-old.

Despite the rumours around his future, Salah has been exceptional for Liverpool in the early stages of the season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 13 games across all competitions.
